Epic Poems

Epic Poetry; The word epic comes from the Greek word epope, meaning epic. Epics that express historical events that left deep marks on the lives of nations in the periods before the invention of writing are considered epic poems. Epic poems deal with themes of bravery, heroism, and war. Most epic poems also have lyrical features because they excite the reader. In Turkish Literature: Köroğlu, Mehmet Akif Ersoy, Fazıl Hüsnü Dağca and Arif Nihat Asya have written poems of this type. In Ancient Greece;Homeros(Όμηρος) and in Western Literature; T.S. Eliot and Ezra Pound are among the leading poets of epic poetry.
